Vybz Kartel’s co-accused Kahira Jones convicted

Vybz Kartel's co-accused Kahira Jones convicted

Kahira Jones, one of three co-convicts of dancehall artiste Vybz Kartel, was today found guilty on three firearm related charges.

Jones was convicted in the Gun Court in downtown Kingston for illegal possession of a firearm, illegal possession of ammunition and wounding with intent.

He is to be sentenced on February 22.

In 2014, Jones along with Kartel, Andre St John and Shawn Campbell were found guilty of the 2011 shooting death of Clive 'Lizard' Williams.

Jones's latest conviction stems from the December 2009 shooting of Chevallo Rodney in Waterford, St Catherine. Rodney had to undergo surgery and was hospitalised for two months.

Nine years later as Jones's trial got underway for shooting him, Rodney was shot and killed.

Prosecutor Hodine Williams led evidence that in December 2009, Jones went to Rodney's home and asked for a drink of water before pulling a firearm.

He used it to shoot Rodney before a struggle ensued and Jones ran away leaving the weapon.
